Is The Ultimate Journey for you?

The following questions serve as “depth charges” to help you see if the possibility of being stuck in unhealthy patterns exists for you.

Need Assessment for The Ultimate Journey

  1. Do you seek after praise and approval from others for how you look, or what you are doing, or the way you do it in order to feel okay about yourself?
  2. Is it hard for you to trust other people?
  3. Do you usually feel compelled to be in control?
  4. Do you have communication problems with people you are close to (i.e. spouse, children, associates, or friends)?
  5. Do you feel dread and fear at the thought of trying new things, exploring new places, or being with people you do not know?
  6. Are you often like a “hall monitor,” watching, judging and being excessively critical of other people and what they are doing?  Are you critical of yourself?
  7. Do you try to keep your feelings under tight control most of the time?
  8. Do you frequently compare yourself with others and feel inferior to them?
  9. Do you feel you must be right, or must have things your way?
  10. Do you try to hide your sense of inferiority by compulsive emphasis on clothes, hygiene, make-up, behavior, things, money, and control of conversational topics, withdrawal, or hyper achievement?
  11. Do you habitually feel you are a terrible sinner, much worse than other people are?  Do you worry over having committed “the unpardonable sin,” and feel sure that you have an excellent prospect of going to hell?
  12. Do you sometimes feel depressed?
  13. Would you say that you haven’t felt closely bonded to one or both of your parents?
  14. Do you sometimes feel that you are not doing enough to please and serve God?
  15. Do you feel like no one understands you?
  16. Did something happen in your life to hurt you and you are not sure if you will ever be able to get over it?
  17. Do you feel like there is something wrong with you?
  18. Do you often feel it is your responsibility to make other people happy?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, unfinished business from your past is probably contaminating the relationships you have with yourself, with God, and other people.
