The Ultimate Journey

Information for your Professional Practice

Welcome to The Ultimate Journey.  If you are a professional therapist, below is some information that may be of specific interest to you.  If you are not already familiar with our ministry, we also encourage you to click on the “New To The Journey” tab to learn more.

The Ultimate Journey is not Therapy.

However, it is a place where people are helping each other.  It is a confidential place where trained facilitators help to create an environment where people are free to be real, vulnerable and transparent.  It is a place where participants can feel safe enough to share and have an opportunity to talk about the things that affect us all.

Many Professional Therapists Refer Their Clients to The Ultimate Journey for one or more of the following reasons:

  1. They recognize that often people just need a safe place with loving people who will listen and give healthy feedback.
  2. They recognize that a client’s finances may limit the number of sessions they will be able to have with their client.  Time constraints may prohibit them from being able to explore and deal with all of the factors of a client’s past which may be affecting their client, forcing them to deal only with the “What brought you to my office today?” issues.
  3. They recognize that their client needs a safe community where they can take their growth beyond the counseling office.  They understand the importance of the client developing healthy relationships where they are free to be honest with themselves and others.  The Ultimate Journey is an excellent place for your clients to “test the waters” and gain more reassurance.
  4. They recognize that by referring clients to The Ultimate Journey it allows them to focus on the issues with that particular client or others that need the professional services they have been called and trained to provide.

You can comfortably refer someone to The Ultimate Journey knowing they will receive tangible, proven help that will support your good counsel.

The Ultimate Journey is not Intended to Replace Professional Therapy.

Naturally, individuals who need professional counseling should meet with a professional therapist either before, after, or concurrently while participating in a Phase 1 group.

Seeing The Ultimate Journey Discipleship Process Through a Therapist’s Eyes

During Phase 1, participants are led through a process by which they take an honest inventory of their lives.  The focus is on identifying hurts, horrors, humiliations, hungers (unmet needs) and honors that have affected how they now see themselves.  They are given a safe place to consider the effects these things have had on their lives, and an opportunity to grieve their losses.  Healthy small group communication skills are employed to validate their feelings.  The group then helps to identify any lies that the participant has learned to believe about themselves as a result of these situations.  Group members then affirm God’s truth to the participant who is then encouraged to affirm that truth to themselves.  The truth really does set us free.

Once the participant has had their feelings validated, and has taken ownership of where they are at, they typically recognize that their solutions to life haven’t worked.  During Phase 2, participants learn more about the incredible God who created them and the relationship he wants to have with them.  Ultimately, participants are encouraged to exchange lives with Christ, trading their self-life solutions for the solution of Christ’s life.  During Phase 3, very practical tools are learned that enable the participant to take the truths obtained during Phases 1 and 2 and apply them to renewing their mind on a continual basis. This process allows the participant to fulfill the command in Romans 12:2 which says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
